Dr. Johnson was first drawn to specialize in foot and ankle surgery when he was a surgical technician specializing in orthopedics and also as an orthopedic resident. There were few orthopedist specializing in this area and he wanted to fill this void to give patients the option of a specialist in their foot and ankle care.
To accomplish this he was trained by 2 of the founders of orthopedic foot and ankle surgery, Doctors Lamar Fleming and John Gould. During fellowship he gained insights into the significant complexities found in foot and ankle function and pathologies. He then joined Athens Orthopedic Clinic as the first fully fellowship trained foot and ankle orthopedist in the Athens area.
Through the years he has maintained a busy clinical practice, staying on the cutting edge of his specialty. He performed the first ankle replacements in the Athens area. He was the first in the region to perform arthroscopic treatment of Haglund’s Syndrome of the heel. He is a reliable referral source for Orthopedic Surgeons and Foot and Ankle Surgeons in the Southeast.
Dr. Johnson and the foot and ankle team have a goal to be the premiere resource for all your needs in resolving pain and disability of your foot and ankle pathology. Their depth of knowledge and experience of foot and ankle injuries and painful deformities allow them to give the best treatment available in the region. We strive to relieve your pain and return you to function as quickly as possible.
